People often wonder what caused their lower back pains, these pains can result from a wide variety of reasons uch as sprained ligaments, strained muscles, ruptured disks, inflammed joints or trigger points.  We can evaluate what is causing your lower back pain by pinpointing when you experience it the most and what activities you are doing while this pain arises.  Other conditions that cause low back pain include poor posture, obesity, stress, kidney infections or even arthritis!

If low back pain goes untreated, things can progressively get worse.  You need to seek professoinal help with a qualified chiropractor.  Dr. Blakely is an expert at diagnosing lower back pain and determining the proper treatment plan to get you relief.

Common Causes of Low Back Pain

Subluxations

Subluxations occur whenever there is a disruption in the normal movement of the vertebrae, the result is pain and inflammation.  Most frequently these usually occur between the lower spine and sacrum.  These subluxations can lead to painful lower back pain, but fortunately subluxations for the most part are easily treatable and with chiropractic care, a patient may feel relief almost immediately after treatment.

Disc Herniations

While many people assume that a herniated disc means that you are going to suffer from low back pain.  This is not the case.  One study found that almost 1/2 of all adults have had at least 1 bulging (herniated disc), even though they did not suffer any back pains.  But on the other hand, herniated discs can also be a great intense pain that radiates to other parts of your body.  Further damage to a disc can be avoided through regular chiropractic care.

Sprains, Strains and Spasms

This is the most common source of back pain for very active individuals such as joggers, hikers, or any sports-related activity.  Typically occurs when an individual does very little activity during the week and once the weeknd arrives, they push themselves far too much, which their bodies aren't used to.  Many will try laying flat on their back for quite awhile before they finally decide to get chiropractic care.  If the muscles or ligaments start to tear in the tissue, the back will become painful, swollen and tight.

Treating Low Back Pain With Chiropractic

Chiropractic treatment for low back pain is usually pretty straightforward. Most commonly, it's simply a matter of adjusting the lower lumbar vertebrae and pelvis to re-establish normal motion and position of your bones and joints.

As our patients who have suffered from lower back pain can attest, the treatment they've received has not only helped them get back pain relief, but in many cases gotten rid of it completely.  Chiropractic care is the only method of treatment that serves to re-establish normal vertebrae motions as opposed to using pain killers.
