Most individuals who begin to feel the effects of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) often experience tingling or numbness in their first 3 fingers, wrist, or are experiencing pain in both these areas.  The carpal tunnel is a small tunnel like area in your wrist in which a nerve passes through from your arm to your fingers.  When the nerve, the "median nerve" is trapped or pinched, you may start to develop carpal tunnel symptoms.  Fortunately, not all pains associated with the wrist should be classified as carpal tunnel.

It is very important to determine that yes, in fact, the carpal tunnel is being caused by the pressure on the median nerve in your wrist.  Or if there is another cause that is creating the problem.  Many people don't know but it is also very common for these problems to exist when there is a misalignment in the neck.  The nerves in the neck control all the nervers of our arms and hands.  Once the nerves in the neck are irritated or compressed, wrist and hand pain is most likely going to come next.  Dr. Blakely can help determine if it is carpal tunnel or not, and provide the correct recommendation to relieve any pains.

Possible Treatments for Carpal Tunnel

In most cases a chiropractor will use physical therapy or manipulations of the wrist to help alleviate symptoms.  If Dr. Blakely determines that the cause of your wrist pain is coming from neck related issues, a series of gentle chirpractic adjustments will be recommended.

Whatever the case may be, you can feel confident that Dr. Blakely and his staff will do their best to lead you in the right direction for this health issue.
