As you continue to age, no doubt, you might start feeling pains here and there throughout your body. But when it comes to your back, those are clearly noticeable and if they continue to progress, will really slow down your way of life. This is often referred to as "DDD" - degenerative disc disease. It is starting to affect a growing population due to aging, and it may feel like there is nothing you can really do (of course time always wins), but there are way to minimize the minor aches and pains before they become major aches and pains. The body will naturally break down over time, the wears and tears on life will get to us all, but there are ways to slow down this process and help you continue performing your normal lifestyles.
Once you start hitting 40 you may just start feeling some minor issues here and there, around 50 they tend to increase and above that you may just need some help to maintain the life of your earlier years. At some point we will all experience some degree of degenerative disc disease, but even if you think you are experiencing some symptoms doesn't mean that its going to be detrimental to your life.
WHAT CAN BE DONE?
Traditionally, the management of degenerative disc disease has been how to "manage the pain". In today's world it is very common for medical physicans to prescribe pain killers to help alleviate this pain such as aspirn or ibuprofen amongst others. These pain killers do not address the issue at hand. Many of the patients that have visited Blakely Chiropractic are seeking a natural alternative to pain meds. Chiropractic care has been proven to provide a non medication related alternative to pain relief, by providing proper chiropractic care, the goal is to allow the body to naturally heal itself.
There are surgical options, but these can to be invasive in nature and as we are sure you've heard, once you've gotten through a surgical procedure on your back, its difficult to recover from that. You may feel better in the short term but when the body isn't healed naturally in its best efforts, it can be difficult to keep the back feeling great over time.
When it comes to backs, there is no magic answer. What we have seen amongst a wide variety of patients over the course of 30 years is that gentle back relief adjustments can ease your pain, and if continued your body will start to hearl itself.
This is the perfect alternative if you are trying to avoid going under the knife in a surgical procedure. Here at Blakely Chiropractic we are well-trained with over 4 decades of experience providing back pain relief for patients that are getting older and the pains are starting to creep up. We want you to continue living your life to the best possible way you know how.
